Service Description

Teaches lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in nonsurf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds. Participants must have a current American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED to participate in this module. After successful completion of this module, participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Waterfront Skills, which is valid for 2 years and is only valid with a current American RedCross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification. Prerequisite 1: Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence: Swim 350 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs. Swim 200 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Prerequisite 2: Timed Event: Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. The face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive (feet-first or head-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet (consistent with the maximum water depth participants will train in ) to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping the face at or near the surface. Exit the water without using a ladder or steps. Prerequisite 3: Underwater Swim: Swim 5 yards, submerge and retrieve three dive rings placed 5 yards apart in 4 to 7 feet of water, resurface and continue to swim another 5 yards.

Please Note: After registration there will be a charge of $30 for cancellations or refund. We request a 5 day (120 Hour) notice to cancel appointments to avoid an additional $50 cancellation fee. Participants may reschedule the class at any time without incurring additional fees. If a class is rescheduled or rescheduled due to low enrollment, the cancellation policy will still apply. **No Refunds for online e-learning courses** No-Shows: Registrants who fail to attend the course date and do not contact us prior to the course date with a cancellation request, (via e-mail) will not qualify for a refund. **No Refunds for unsuccessful/failed participants**
